Latest Ice Hockey Features

Tools for Coaching Ice Hockey:

  • Good coaches are essential for creating a winning hockey team. Coaches maintain order, discipline and make sure the team is functioning as a well oiled machine. Coaches should keep up-to-date with methods, skills, drills, terminology and rules and then pass their knowledge on to the players. Coaches have a variety of tools available to them to assist them, including various technologies, white boards, and classes.

White Boards

  • White boards are useful tools to draw up plans, plays and drills. Every dressing room should have a large white board all players can easily see. If possible, purchase a flipping white board that has one side blank and the other with a hockey ice surface drawn on it. This will help coaches visualize where both defensive and offensive players need to be on the ice.
A small bench white board is also important to have if a timeout is called and the coach needs to draw a play plan up quickly.

Game Video

  • Coaches today have the luxury of high-definition technology, instant replay and video. After games, or even after a whistle, coaches have the ability to instantly see the game in front of them. Examining and studying game tapes helps to point out where teams made mistakes, where they did things well, and how they might improve. It is important for coaches to watch game tapes, take notes and then share their ideas with the team.

Classes and Tutorials

  • There are hundreds of coaching classes available to coaches. Most leagues have training sessions, or if a coach is serious about coaching professionally, many universities offer coaching classes through their Human Kinetics departments. Video tutorials are available online as well and can be very helpful when organizing drills and practices.

Solid Plans

  • Coaches always need to be prepared. Game planes, practice plans, player plans and season plans are all needed. Coaches should consult and talk to their teams about what goals they have as a team and as individual players. Realistic goals can be set and coaches should help steer the team in the right direction. Having a solid plan is a primary step to success, but coaches need to be mindful that as time passes and teams develop, plans can change. Coaches need to be opened minded to change.

1

Drill starts off with a line at center court. The 1st two players in line have a basketball.

There are two players at top of the key (Player 1 & 2). And there's one player at the bottom corner of the court (Player 3).

Player 4 passes to Player 1 at the key and then breaks for a lay-up.

2

Player 1 passes the ball to Player 4 and follows behind Player 4 as he makes his lay-up.

Player 2 moves over and takes on the position Player 1 had.

3

Player 1 gets rebound and outlet's ball to Player 3.

Player 4 moves to the top of the key taking the position held by Player 2.

Play continues at half court with Player 5 passing to Player 2.

4

Player 3 passes the ball to Player 6 at half court. Player 3 then follows his pass and moves to the end of the line. Player 1 moves over and takes position of Player 3.
Player 2 passes the ball to Player 5 and follows for the rebound. Player 4 moves over and takes position held by Player 2

The drill continues in this fashion.

I emphasize:
Good leading passes to the basket.
The passer not letting the ball hit the floor as he rebounds the lay-up.

I use two balls for the drill so that the motion is continuous.

Latest Cricket bat Features

image
The Compton Cricket Club sprang out of a previous cricket team called the LA Crickets, which was a group of homeless men residing at the Dome Village for the Homeless in downtown Los Angeles. This was born after Katy Haber (team manager) introduced me to the game and we had taken the homeless guys, one of the first American-born cricket tour to England since 1926. And when we returned back, we of course wanted to spread the etiquette, not just the physical game itself, but the etiquette of the sport into homeless people and into the inner cities for young people, because it can help to civilise them. So one of our team members (who is a Muslim, by the way) suggested that we take it to his home town of Compton in California, which is the home base or the capital of gangsta rap and all that, that you’ve heard about, coming straight out of Compton.

Summary

The front of the Cricket Bat (used to hit the ball) is pictured on the left. This is a flat surface. The rear of the Cricket Bat is on the right. It is considerably thicker in the center and thins out towards the sides.

New Woodworm Cricket Bats

Are the woodworm hard drive, mega bite and satalite cricket bats as shown as good as the Globe, Torch and Flame? Have your say, do they look as good, has Kevin Pietersens dip in form made you consider other cricket bat manufacturers. Perhaps you've seen the new Gray Nicolls Nitro - used by Graham Swann and like the look of that? Let us know, what will be your cricket bat choice during the  season.

Latest snooker table Features

Snooker Table

This tournament takes place in Sheffield as usual and I'm trying to keep up with it this time round. Sorry for being nerdy but man I love this sport, it deserves to be so much more popular. Recently my mum saw the light, and she's already getting familiar with players and the rules, brilliant.

When the right players are paired up against each other it can be the most exciting thing. If you are rooting for somebody and they are behind, you're always tense, waiting for them to turn the match around. If they attempt a perfect score (this rarely happens) you almost can't watch in fear of them missing a ball. The safety duels can be trying too. So, if just watching a match can be a serious test of nerves, try to imagine being one of the players.. You really have to be strong mentally to compete. It is a difficult skill to master to boot as it demands such precision. Doesn't help that the table is enourmous (3,55x1,77m) while the pockets are small and narrow.

Today one of my favorite players made it to the quarter finals with a truly remarkable comeback when he won 13-12 from 6-11 down. And the oldest player to enter, a legend in his own right, even surprised himself when he won against the current world champion. It just goes to show.

Snooker Table Dimensions:

One of the many different kinds of cue sports, snooker was believed to have originated in India, Snooker Tablewhen the officers of the British Army devised an exciting and relaxing game. Some of the high-ranking snooker tournaments today include the Shanghai Masters, the UK Championship as well as the World Championship. First played in the 19th century, the rules and other important aspects of the game are currently governed by the World Snooker Association. Aside from these highly interesting aspects, there are other nice things to know about the game including the different snooker table dimensions.

The Dimensions of Snooker Table:

What are the different snooker table dimensions? According to the rules of the game mandated by the World Snooker Association, a standard snooker table must measure 3.7 meters by 1.8 meters or 12 feet by 6 feet. Aside from the table, it is important to take note of the different balls used in this game, which include 15 red balls and a white cue ball. In addition, the game also features six other balls with varying colors, namely black, pink, blue, brown, green and yellow.

Additional Facts and Other Highly Interesting Details

Aside from the table and the balls, there are other important materials necessary to play snooker. In case the cue ball is very far from the offensive player, it is possible to use an extension. This can actually help the player reach a ball for a more decent shot. Other important items needed in this sport are ball marker, the triangle and the hook rest.
In the 1930s, a British professional snooker player named Joe Davis dominated the sport. In the 1970s, a Welsh snooker player named Ray Reardon defeated opponents with class. Meanwhile, an English professional snooker player by the name of Steve Davis dominated the numerous international tournaments in the 1980s. In the 1990s, a Scottish player named Stephen Hendry dismantled one opponent after another to become the most dominant competitor during that time.

We are all familiar with the indisputable truth about choosing names for any means oftransportation. As it turned out, in a Ferrari agree with this statement and, therefore, for his new creations have found special letters from the past. Coupled with a 195 kilogram (430 lb) weight reduction program – now tipping the scales at 1495 kg (3295 lbs), the leaner and meaner 599 can sprint to 62 miles per hour from a standstill in a scant (and very specific) 3.35 seconds, with a top speed in excess of 208 mph, while lapping the Fiorano test track from which its donor's name is derived in a blitzing 1 minute, 24 seconds. That's faster than the Enzo, people.
